We had our first ever San Diego Mompreneur meeting at the end of March and it was a great event! In addition to meeting other enterprising moms, we had a business workshop and a guest speaker. If you weren’t able to make it, I’ll be posting a video of the meeting shortly.
We now have a facebook page for our group! It’s a little easier to chat and discuss things with each other there compared to the meetup page. Be sure to like and join us!
Here’s a quick rundown of March’s meeting:
Business Model Canvas Workshop – I led a workshop on how to use this tool in collaboration with others to come up with creative, non-linear ideas for your business concept.
Here’s a short video that outlines how the business model canvas works.
You can download a word file of the canvas for your own use here
Then our guest speaker, Karen Kart, Founder of Prodigi Kids, gave an inspiring and informational talk on her journey from having an “Aha!” moment for a new children’s plate, through designing and engineering the product with UCSD students, the patenting process, and into the pre-launch stage. Her kickstarter campaign goes live this summer!
Our next meeting is titled, “Connecting the Digital Dots: Harnessing E-Marketing & Social Media.” One of our memebers, Sarah Tuakli Cooper, will lead a session on e-marketing, and then we will discuss ways to use social media to build our businesses. Working on getting a guest speaker, as well. Be sure to RSVP!
Until next time, keep on mompreneuring!
